Me and my shrivelled ovaries

The best thing about turning 25 is that people are encouraging me to have babies immediately not because it would be cute, or funny, or because then I could take my children to Lapland to see "the REAL Santa" (true story), but because my "biological clock is ticking".

Right now, I find this hilarious. But I'm guessing that after four thousand five hundred and six repetitions, it will get less funny.

  1. Weird, no-one ever said that to me when I was 25 (or subsequently). Maybe I have the demeanour of an inappropriate (potential) mother.

  2. Nobody has ever said that to me either! But then apparently I look 18.

  3. Might be a homophobia thing I guess - people do seem to forget that unstraight people breed...

  4. My favorite part is when people continue to ask me this at age 29 and post-sterilization. I like to respond now with, "It's okay. I plugged my fallopian tubes so my ovaries won't hear the ticking."

  5. My personal solution to this has been to work the word "fuck" into conversations repeatedly and creatively. People are usually to busy tut-tuting to inquire about the status of my presumed uterus.

  6. I am quite content that people wouldn't consider the idea of me breeding, given I don't tend to consider it myself. Fostering though, I am well enthused about the potential idea of.
